If you been reading me, you might have realized that all books I review are about motivation, self-love, women inspiring other women, girl power and all that!

Today I wanted to tell you about the latest book I read and loved.

Lilly Singh is known as IISuperwomanII is a Canadian YouTube personality, here channel available HERE

She was recently on the ‘Chelsea’ show. Yes, the Netflix show hosted by one of my favorite ‘Chelsea Handler’

Lilly is funny, positive and inspiring as hell. Her first book is called ‘How to be a BAWSE’

She calls her a book ‘a guide to being a BAWSE’

What’s a BAWSE though? is that even a word?

A BAWSE is a person who exudes confidence, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently, and smiles genuinely because they’ve fought through it all and made it out the other side.

The things I learned in this book:

Lilly shares how she transformed her battling depression and on the brink of applying to grad school—to having 11 million subscribers on YouTube and making serious money. (Yes, she is a millionaire.) – Hello INSPIRATIONAAAAL!

The caracteristics of a BAWSE, is their energy, not easily overlooked or forgotten. they have presence.

Let Go of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Temptation will try to steer you away from your goals. FOMO is just a test of your priorities, a test that a bawse is ready to pass.

Be Nice to People: Treat niceness like an item on your daily to-do list. People will go out of their way to help and support you because you make them feel good.

Schedule Inspiration: Lack of motivation isn’t permanent or a sign of weakness. Expect it and proactively schedule time to be creative.

Be the Dumbest: Challenge yourself by surrounding yourself with people who know more than you do. It’s a vital way to learn and improve.

Lilly’s #GirlLove Challenge, where she encouraged people on social media to compliment one another using the hashtag, became a viral sensation that caught the attention of Michelle Obama.

My favorite ‘How to be a BAWSE quotes:

• “We’re from different worlds.” 

• Talk is cheap, so leave it at the thrift store.

• The more details people know about you, the weaker you become.

• Say what you mean, but don’t say it mean.

• Don’t give up before you even try.

• Nah, you can do better than that. Stop being wacksauce

• Mistakes don’t exist just to make us feel bad about ourselves; they are opportunities that we should not ignore or shy away from.

• Pain is good. Heartache is good. These things will provide you with knowledge that will help you grow and deal with future struggles. 

• The universe might respect the law of attraction, but it respects a good hustle even more.

Now go and read that book, you will not be disappointed. Again as per usual, since I am super lazy, I did not ‘read’ this book, but listened to it. Also on Audible it is Lilly herself reading the book for you – pretty cool I thought! Nice one Lilly!
